Work/Travel Exchange Student Travel Ban “Response” Video
In response to President Trump’s June 22, 2020 exchange student travel ban, we will be creating a video focused on:
How host employers provide more than “just a job” for exchange students;
How Americans and their businesses are negatively affected by a lack of exchange student workers;
How the economy in resort/vacation communities will be negatively affected by a lack of exchange student workers.
Host employers and housing providers - we need your help! Please send a video or videos answering some or all of the below questions:
Introduce yourself - what is your name and job title, business name, city and state?
What are you going to miss about not having exchange student workers this year?
What is one of your favorite memories about being a host employer to a exchange student(s)?
What changes have you had to make, with no exchange student workers this year?
How will this ban affect your American employees?
How will this ban affect your American clients/customers?
How will this ban affect your community?
What message would you like to say to those making the decisions on this travel ban?
Please answer the questions as if you’re being interviewed. We’re envisioning the video will show a written question, and will then show your answers.
Tips
When shooting video, always hold your phone camera on LANDSCAPE position (horizontal, not vertical).
This doesn’t need to be pro-quality, but please use the best quality camera or phone that is available to you.
Hold the phone/camera as steady as possible or rest it on a surface.
Avoid dark indoor shots and go for shots with natural light - either outdoors, perhaps in front of your business or nature, or in a well-lit indoor area showing what your business is about - your restaurant dining room, your hotel lobby, your shop’s sales floor, etc). Well-lit is very important!
If you don’t wish to be in the video, ask a manager or employee to do it from their perspective.
Consider filming separate videos for each question, to make them easier to send.
